ABOUT STARTING THERAPY
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
1
Therapy can be helpful if you are experiencing emotional distress, ongoing stress, relationship challenges, or simply feel “stuck.” You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support to better understand themselves, build coping skills, or navigate life transitions.
What happens during the first therapy session?
2
The first session is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Your therapist will ask questions to understand your background and current challenges, while also explaining their approach and the therapy process. Sessions move at a pace that respects your comfort level.
Is everything I share in therapy confidential?
3
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. Information shared in sessions is kept private, with limited exceptions required by law, such as concerns about immediate safety. Your therapist will review confidentiality policies with you so you understand how your information is protected.
How long does therapy usually last?
4
The length of therapy varies based on individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Some people benefit from short-term, focused support, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and growth. Your therapist will regularly review progress with you and adjust the approach as needed.
COST AND INSURANCE
How much do you charge for a session?
1
The intake session (first session) for individuals is $150, or $200 for couples and, thereafter, $100 for a 50-minute individual session, or $125 for a 50-minute couples session. I also provide 75-minute sessions upon request and availability.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
2
Angela is an “in-network” provider with several insurance plans, and is continually adding new plans to the list. For the most up-to-date listing of in-network plans, please check here. If you are planning on using health benefits, it is important you verify your mental health benefits with your carrier, so you can understand your coverage prior to your appointment. Be sure to check with your insurance carrier as some carriers require pre-certification before the first appointment, or they will not cover the cost of services. There are times when insurance representatives misquote benefits. If your insurance does not pay for the full contracted rate, you are responsible for the payment of services, not your insurance company.
If your insurance is out-of-network, get in touch today and find out how I can accommodate your situation.
CO-PAYS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF SERVICE.
What if I have no insurance or cannot afford therapy?
3
We here at Angela Clark Counseling never want finances to be a barrier to you receiving the help and support you need. We may offer a sliding scale fee structure or pro bono sessions under special circumstances. If finances are an issue, please let us know so we can try to accommodate your situation.
Do you offer a free consultation so I can determine if you are right for me?
4
Yes. We understand that finding a therapist who is the “right” fit is an extremely important part of the therapeutic process and often has a big influence on therapy outcomes. We provide a free phone consultation to discuss your needs and ensure we’re a good fit for working together. These consultations last 15-30 minutes depending on your situation and the therapist availability.
